Terrence the Turtle

Getting Started

Always use your imagination and be creative when building these kids crafts or any others. It's your creation, so be inventive when looking for building supplies — you just may be surprised! When building your project, experiment with new and different ways of putting it together. The most important thing is to have fun!

1Find these or similar supplies!
• A big plastic bowl
• Masking tape
• Some cardboard or construction paper
• Markers or pens for customizing
• Five toilet paper tubes

1. Add Terrence's legs!

To make the fancy turtle you’ll want to find yourself a big plastic bowl. Turn it upside down and tape in the T.P. tubes so that they stick up like legs.

2. Give him a neck!

When your T.P. legs are done, tape the last tube sticking out like a neck. You may need to cut a little piece of the bowl out to get the neck to fit properly.

3. Add a layer of tape!

Now at this point you can start to decorate. I covered all my pieces with masking tape (like always) so that I could color the plastic with my colored markers. You can paint your turtle, or maybe cover it with paper, really anything you can think of to dress it up. Have fun!

4. Give Terrence a head!

To make my turtles head I decided to ball up some tape and stick it to the end of my neck T.P. tube. The nice thing about masking tape is you can mold it like clay to get the shape you want. I used some scissors to cut out a mouth. You could use a small paper cup for the head instead of tape.

65.Color and decorate Terrence!

The last step for me was the coloring. I decided to stick with the natural green for my big turtle... Voila! A cool plastic bowl turtle. Don't forget to add some cute turtle toes!
